Don't insult our intelligence, Scott Walker.
We knew FDR and you are no
FDR.
FDR created the New Deal: Social Security and AFDC, the minimum
wage, workers comp., the 8 hour day, unemployment compensation and the
National Labor Relations Act. He asserted that: "It is now beyond partisan controversy that it is a fundamental
individual right of a worker to associate himself with other workers and
to bargain collectively with his employer." Address at San Diego
Exposition, October 2, 1935
He regulated industries from finance to
trucking to communications. Roosevelt stood up to corporate power, labeling them economic royalists warning, “The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the
growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the
democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of
government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private
power.”
FDR created the Civilian Conservation Corps to preserve the environment and put people back to work. He created the Works Progress Administration because he believed that government had an obligation to its citizens to provide jobs when the market system failed to.
FDR understood that the demand for goods and service stimulates investment and job creation, not high income and corporate tax breaks.
Roosevelt's New Deal and America's post WWII prosperity was based on progressive social programs, regulation of industry and unionization. Scott Walker opposes all three.
Scott Walker can claim that black is white, but that doesn't make it so.
"The process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service," Roosevelt wrote in 1937 to the National Federation of Federal Employees. Yes, public workers may demand fair treatment, wrote Roosevelt. But, he wrote, "I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place" in the public sector. "A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government."
ReplyDeleteGovernment workers don’t generate profits. They merely negotiate for more tax money. When government unions strike, they strike against taxpayers. F.D.R. considered this “unthinkable and intolerable.”
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:20 - FDR may not have liked the idea of public employees striking, but he did NOT object to them organizing for better wages & working conditions.
ReplyDelete"“Organizations of Government employees have a logical place in Government affairs. The desire of Government employees for fair and adequate pay, reasonable hours of work, safe and suitable working conditions, development of opportunities for advancement, facilities for fair and impartial consideration and review of grievances, and other objectives of a proper employee relations policy, is basically no different from that of employees in private industry.”

FDR, the patron saint of the left wing progressive demorats... be thankful Scott Walker is no FDR.
ReplyDelete1)FDR interned 40,000+ Americans of Japanese descent--a true act of liberal crime.
2)FDR okayed the transfer of the Pacific Fleet from San Diego to the inferior port of Pearl Harbor that the Japanese viewed as a hostile act and inviting them to attack.
3)FDR okayed the building of the atom bomb dropped twice on Japan--another true act of racism so typical of progressives. Walker just drops political bombs on Wisconsin's enemies--the left wing.
4)FDR cynically went along with Stalin at the Yalta Conference giving eastern Europe to the Russians. An "Iron Curtain" descended on Europe thanks to
FDR.
5)An amendment was added to the Constitution limiting presidents to two terms thanks to FDR. He wanted to make sure he could outlast all SCOTUS justices in order to pack it with liberals. Senate approval of justices has been contentious ever since. Thanks FDR!
Would you like me to list several more fatal flaws of FDR?

Walker only compared his policies to FDR. FDR had poor record on economics but was our best war president. Walker has never been tested in war but is far better than FDR on economics.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Dan Quayle was twice the man that JFK was in his best day.
