Don't insult our intelligence, Scott Walker.
We knew FDR and you are no
FDR.
FDR created the New Deal: Social Security and AFDC, the minimum
wage, workers comp., the 8 hour day, unemployment compensation and the
National Labor Relations Act. He asserted that: "It is now beyond partisan controversy that it is a fundamental
individual right of a worker to associate himself with other workers and
to bargain collectively with his employer." Address at San Diego
Exposition, October 2, 1935
He regulated industries from finance to
trucking to communications. Roosevelt stood up to corporate power, labeling them economic royalists warning, “The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the
growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the
democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of
government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private
power.”
FDR created the Civilian Conservation Corps to preserve the environment and put people back to work. He created the Works Progress Administration because he believed that government had an obligation to its citizens to provide jobs when the market system failed to.
FDR understood that the demand for goods and service stimulates investment and job creation, not high income and corporate tax breaks.
Roosevelt's New Deal and America's post WWII prosperity was based on progressive social programs, regulation of industry and unionization. Scott Walker opposes all three.
Scott Walker can claim that black is white, but that doesn't make it so.
